Translation Studies as a discipline has witnessed the fastest growth in the last 40 years. With translation becoming increasingly more important in today’s glocalized world, some have even observed a general translational turn in humanities in recent years. The New Frontiers in Translation Studies aims to capture the newest developments in translation studies, with a focus on:

• Translation Studies research methodology, an area of growing interest amongst translation students and teachers;  

• Data-based empirical translation studies, a strong point of growth for the discipline because of the scientific nature of the quantitative and/or qualitative methods adopted in the investigations; and 

• Asian translation thoughts and theories, to complement the current Eurocentric translation studies.  

The editor welcomes book proposals from experienced scholars as well as young aspiring researchers. All proposals will undergo peer review to permit an initial evaluation. Interdisciplinary and Transcultural Approaches to Chinese Literature aims to discuss Chinese authors (including authors from the Chinese diaspora) focusing on literary, cultural, and translational aspects of their dissemination and reception in the world. Transculturality means relating to or involving more than one culture. Reference is made to theories such as the polysystem theory or the Chinese medio-translatology theory, both focusing on cross-cultural and transcultural aspects of the dissemination of a literary work. The series also welcomes books focusing on cultural and translational aspects of the dissemination and reception of Chinese literary works in different countries, regions, and cultural areas. The series will primarily consist of focus/shortform books, monographs, edited volumes, handbooks, and companions dedicated to discussing the interdisciplinary and transcultural issues of Chinese literary works.

The series welcomes books dealing with Chinese literary experimentation and changes connected to interdisciplinary acts of translation, transculturation, and international exchange. Many works in the modern and contemporary canon of Chinese literature and thought along with a plethora of key acts of transcultural innovation have still not been fully elucidated. This series seeks to fill in our understanding of the crucial aspect concerning the dissemination of Chinese literature in the world, by focusing on the interdisciplinary and transcultural aspects of such a translational and dissemination act, as well as by examining intellectual, aesthetic, and literary encounters of Chinese writers in the world with a special focus on modern and contemporary literary production.

Description of the type of books and number of titles to be included in the series

This series aims at publishing approximately two or three titles a year. Hopefully, each year the titles will cover different areas and regions and provide theoretical insights on different authors and literary works or genres. This series sets out to be interdisciplinary in nature and intercultural in its vision. The ultimate goal of this series is to create a space for discussion among literary scholars, writers, literary translators, and intercultural facilitators from all walks of life and with different backgrounds from all countries and regions in East Asia.

Topics at the intersection of literature, culture, ecoliterature, women’s studies, and interdisciplinary studies in literature and the environment are all welcome. We are interested in tracing the cross-cultural nexus of forces that influence literary and cultural production around the world as far as its reception is concerned, with a special emphasis on the modern and contemporary periods.

本丛书包括涉及使用中文（普通话、粤语和其他方言）、日语、韩语和其他语言的口译活动和口译理论方面的学术著作。在西方的口译研究已经趋于成熟之际，学者们也亟欲扩展研究视野，以期涵盖世界其他地方之口译实务。在目前的描述性工作尚未覆盖到所有地方时，中国的口译领域具备着发现新的前沿领域和建构新理论的极大潜力。口译本身涵盖了丰富的领域和主题，而在过去的二十年里，口译研究已发展成一门专业实践和跨学科的学科，并扩充了翻译研究领域的范畴。因此，本书系所设定的主题，包含了口译的所有子领域。

这套丛书将包括从语言学、文学、符号学、认知学、文化、哲学、社会学、政治、社会经济、教育和技术角度探讨口译的专著和编著。在未来的几十年里，这套丛书将为中国的口译研究者以及其他学科（医学、媒体研究、政治学、语言技术、口译心理学、心理语言学、神经语言学、双语学等等）的学者提供一个重要的知识库，提供他们在口译基础上或与口译相关进一步研究的基础。
